The Rams arent going back to their old L.A. uniforms, at least not yet
One would think that the Rams would go back to their former, brighter color scheme now that they’ve decided to move back to their western ancestral homeland in Los Angeles. But the team’s current colors — officially described as New Century Gold, Millennium Blue and White and unofficially described by me as “drably tired” — will be around until the 2019 season, Rams executive vice president for football operations Kevin Demoff told the Los Angeles Times on Monday.
“I know there are fans that want to see us go back to our old L.A colors,” Demoff said. “It’s not as simple as that.”
And he’s right, because the NFL mandates that all uniform changes be made over a period of time usually reserved for presidential elections or geological epochs. As Gary Klein of the Times reports, “the NFL requires teams to submit permission to overhaul uniforms between January and March of a given year for implementation two years after that.” The Rams will talk about possible uniform changes at this week’s NFL owners’ meetings but won’t officially submit their application to change them until next year, Demoff told Klein.
Until then, the Rams can wear their old-school yellow-and-gold numbers twice a year for throwback games and are stuck with their tired early century look for the rest of the season.
Seriously, how can you tell me that this:
… is better than this?
